Philip Ledbetter Self Portraits

 "Self Portrait 2"
 Acrylic on poster board.
"Self Portrait"
Acrylic on canvas.

I submitted two self portraits because after I painted the first one, I was on a roll. This is typical when I get into "Abstract Expressionism". It's a very energetic style that requires very little, or no planning at all, which is precisely the point. The artist endeavors to push his judgements, preconceptions and conscious thought to one side, while his or her subconscious leads the way. Use the color that beckons to you, apply it freely, without thinking about the final product. "Express" your inner-self through the medium. It's fun, and it's easy. Give it a try! And don't forget to put on your favorite music when you do.
